Under the motto “Fernholz goes green”, W. u.H. Fernholz GmbH & Co. KG is showing. Resource-saving packaging solutions at the Fachpack trade fair from 28th to 30th September 2021 in Nuremberg. Fernholz will be housing Hall 7 at Booth 7-551. Visitors can experience the latest developments in packaging and cup production live on site.
The resource-saving Desto cup, for example, uses a new type of cardboard with a recycled content of up to 90 percent. In combination with the approximately 60 percent lower plastic content compared to conventional cups, Fernholz relies on climate-conscious and innovative production.
“Our cooperation with the petrochemical company Trinseo has also turned out to be a great success,” says Managing Director Uwe Fernholz. “Our customers now benefit from the recyclability of polystyrene, from the reusability of the material and from its ability to be completely recycled into the monomer components,” Fernholz continues.
Fernholz is very much in vogue with resource-saving production: The recycling of plastic packaging in Germany has recently increased by a good eight percentage points compared to the previous year (2019 to 2018). In the case of private end users, this is even more than 12 percent. This is particularly good for the environment, because every ton of plastic that is recycled as a material saves around two tons of CO2. Applied to the economy, this amounts to a total of around 900,000 tonnes of CO2 savings per year.
Fernholz is a producer of foils and plastic packaging based in Meinerzhagen and Schkopau. Fernholz employs around 220 people at both locations. The company has numerous certificates that distinguish sustainable and innovative projects.
