The winner of the fourth hobby brewing competition by Maisel & Friends and BrauBeviale is Fernando Coppi. His “Tropical Coast” prevailed over 160 other West Coast IPAs in the jury tasting. Since 2018, BrauBeviale has been organizing the hobby brewing competition together with Maisel & Friends. Since it was founded, it has grown enormously in importance and popularity.

Unlike in previous years, the hobby brewing competition 2021 did not take place as part of HOMEBREW Bayreuth due to Corona. The organizers Maisel & Friends and BrauBeviale had to cancel the popular homebrewing event, but the hobby brewing competition was held anyway. Since the beginning of the competition, the number of participants has increased year on year and in 2021 the organizers were able to set an absolute record. While there were still 66 registrations in 2020, in 2021 amateur and homebrewers from near and far submitted 160 beers for the “West Coast IPA” competition.
