It’s compeyition time for the coffee world

Italian Exhibition Group dolce foodservice expo, at the expo in Rimini,
from 12th to 16th March 2022

  • The events in the Coffee Arena: national competitions of the Italian Barista Championship and international competitions of the World Coffee Championships, Brewers Cup and Cup Tasters
  • Slow Food presents the Slow Food Coffee Coalition, an inclusive and collaborative network uniting all the players in the coffee chain
  • New publishing projects signed by coffee artists, ingredients, technologies and small equipment from the most prestigious Made in Italy brands

Coffee artists and expert baristas will compete in the Coffee Arena (Hall D1) of Sigepthe stage and meeting point for the professionals and experts of the coffee sector, in national competitions organized by SCA Italy, Italian Chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association, and valid for the international circuit of the World Coffee Championships . In the five expo days, in particular, the Italian CIBC Italian Barista and Coffee Expert Championshipswill be held for the Barista, Brewers Cup and Cup Tasters categories.

20 YEARS OF THE ITALIAN BARISTA COFFEE CHAMPIONSHIP
On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March the CIBC (which this year celebrates its twentieth anniversary) will be held, at which barista semi-finals will be staged. The six winners who go forward to the finals will compete on Monday 14th March. On Tuesday 15th March,the program features the finals of the Italian Brewers Cup Championship. Winning the contests gives access to the World Brewers Cup. On Tuesday 15th March, the stage of the Coffee Arena is also dedicated to the semi-finals of the Italian Cup Tasters contest, which gives access to the World Cup Tasters Championship. The finals and prize-giving ceremony are scheduled for Wednesday 16 th March.

COFFEE, THE BEST OF MADE IN ITALY
As well as the contests, the Coffee Arena stage will also host presentations of books, documentaries and demos that will highlight the product chain, beginning from coffee production countries, with the sector’s top experts and collaboration with companies, media and institutions. As well as this, the area will host ingredients, technology and small equipment by the most prestigious Italian-made brands, managing to offer baristas and the sector’s experts all the products from the coffee sector’s various product categories.

NEW PUBLISHING PROJECTS
Then there are the talks by the IILA – Italo Latin-American Institute, which will be held in the Pastry Arena and the Vision Plaza, which mustn’t be missed. Here, in particular, the event in collaboration with Slow Food will be held and will present the Slow Food Coffee Coalition, an inclusive collaborative network that unites all the key players of the coffee chain. And then a market focus on the evolution of the barista’s profession , with the new skills, from the mastery of the raw material to management and relational abilities, to flexibility; a talk organized by Bargiornale. And, lastly, the launch of new publishing projects, such as the book by the Bazzara brothers “Coffee experts”, the “Guida del camaleonte” a journey to discover Italy’s coffees and roasters, by Andrej Godina and Mauro Illiano, and the book by Chiara Bergonzi “Il caffè” (published by Hoepli) which gives in-depth coverage of the coffee chain’s topics.

THE TV SERIES DEDICATED TO COFFEE
Sigep will also host the presentation of the mini TV series “The Coffee Hunter”, which has as its protagonist award winning coffee champion Francesco Sanapo who, travelling in Uganda, describes the “origins” of coffee.
