Lieferando tests the REBOWL reusable system

Lieferando users in Berlin can now order their meals in reusable trays. For this purpose, the food order marketplace cooperates with the reusable system REBOWL. The joint pilot project is scheduled to run for several months. The aim is a scalable circular solution with which as many restaurants and consumers as possible use loan instead of one-way packaging. To support the pilot project, Lieferando provided the first 30 restaurants with 40 reusable containers each.

“In 2019 we banned single-use plastic from our web shop for restaurateurs. Now, together with REBOWL, we make it easier for you to supply your customers in reusable trays and thus to position yourself in a particularly sustainable manner. To switch to reusable packaging, consumers and restaurateurs need a circular deposit system in which they can simply borrow and return suitable reusable containers. We have the perfect partner for this in REBOWL ”, says Lieferando Managing Director Katharina Hauke.

Looking forward to REBOWL

The REBOWL team is looking forward to the cooperation with Germany’s largest food ordering platform. “We want to make disposable items superfluous, this is only possible with strong delivery partners. We are therefore very pleased about the cooperation with Lieferando as the market leader in Germany ”, says Fabian Eckert, Managing Director and founder of RECUP / REBOWL. “Together we show that convenience and sustainability are compatible,” Eckert continues.

Borrow REBOWL against a digital deposit using Lieferando

At the start of the project, more than 30 Berlin restaurants are taking part and are offering delivery in REBOWL reusable trays on Lieferando. Consumers can find participating restaurants at www.lieferando.de/rebowl . www.lieferando.de/rebowl .

In the restaurant, the ordered meals are packed in the REBOWLs and the borrowed bowls are scanned with the RECUP partner app. In the case of restaurateurs, the deposit amount is offset by a monthly compensation credit or invoice, depending on whether they have given out more bowls or taken them back.
