How ecologically do the food retail companies with the highest turnover in Germany operate?

“Sustainable food retailing: Requirements for food retailing in promoting sustainable nutrition from an environmental perspective” is a research project of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), which was carried out by the Research Institute for Organic Farming (FiBL) Switzerland and Systain are carried out. The aim of the research project is to develop a scientifically derived analysis grid in order to systematically and comprehensively record and analyze the activities of the important stakeholder group food retail in relation to the promotion of environmentally friendly nutrition. With this instrument, the Federal Environment Agency wants to support the commitment of food retail companies to a more sustainable food sector. The project builds on the UBA report “Sustainable Trade(s)?! Food retail activities on sustainable consumption in the food sector from an environmental perspective”.

The final event of the research project “Sustainable food retail: Requirements for food retail in promoting sustainable nutrition from an environmental perspective” will be held in person. To register (20 September 2022) contact olivia.keller@fibl.org. The number of participants is limited.
