Merways: Simplified multi-way rental for online orders

The first step towards a more sustainable catering industry has been taken by introducing the legal obligation to reuse. But the legal framework is followed by the urge for solutions that make the rental of reusable containers even easier – both for customers and for the company. “Reusable without additional effort” is the motto of many restaurateurs who have adapted to the new regulation but are also confronted with challenges. With the reusable app, Merways GmbH provides an optimal solution: the deposit-free reusable system offers catering operators the opportunity to offer their individual reusable solution with their own containers and at the same time to keep track of the reusable items that have been borrowed. Even containers from different sources can be loaned out via the app without a deposit. With the new “delivery token” function, this lending process is even easier: the app now enables easy transfer to various delivery services, which customers can use to conveniently order reusable containers.

A comprehensive update has made the Merways app the brand new reusable app with immediate effect. In order to record rented reusable containers in the system using the smart solution from Merways, it was previously sufficient to scan a QR code that links the customer to the catering business. Alternatively, the new function offers an even more convenient solution that also enables ordering via delivery services such as Lieferando, Uber Eats, Wolt and Co. To do this, customers only need to generate a 5-digit code in the reusable app, copy it to the clipboard with a click and paste it into the free text or comment field of the delivery provider. This means that catering establishments no longer have to scan a QR code when ordering and can use the specified delivery token to deliver their food in reusable containers, which are then noted in the system.

Reusable can be that easy

The reusable app is a simple tool for quickly integrating an individual, deposit-free solution for the rental of reusable items. The free application enables the containers to be managed, gives catering establishments an overview of items that have been lent out and at the same time reminds customers to return them. The containers are returned to the company. There, the QR code is scanned to confirm the return of the customer. Fees only apply to borrowers if they are returned late and range between 99 cents and EUR 7.92 if the containers are not returned. To cover the loss for the companies, they receive a flat rate of five euros
