UFOP Plant Protein Symposium

November 28, 2023

Vegetable protein is in greater demand in Germany than ever before. In a European comparison, per capita spending on plant-based foods is the highest in this country and the number of companies that produce these products is still increasing. Take advantage of the opportunity and discuss the potential of this exciting market with experts along the entire production chain at the second UFOP Plant Protein Symposium “Local Heroes” on November 28, 2023 from 9:30 a.m.!

Location: Spreespeicher Berlin & via Livestream

This year the focus is on plant-based protein from local legumes, the optimization of its use on a scientific basis and the economic potential of plant-based foods. In addition, we will introduce the lighthouse projects with regionally produced raw materials and are particularly looking forward to the best practice contributions from Sören Rossmann from Rügenwalder Mühle and Jasmin Dold and Achim Budemann from BayWa and GREENFORCE.

The panel discussion with start-ups are as diverse as Luvine, Viva la Faba and Vemiwa Foods, who will present their experiences in developing, processing and marketing products made from grain legumes. These have a clear advantage in terms of sustainability and ecological balance because they impress with regional availability and short transport routes. In addition, as part of more diverse crop rotations, they have a positive effect on soil health and biodiversity on local fields. That is why field beans, sweet lupins, grain peas and soybeans grown in Germany are real “local heroes”.
