Ishida’s SETA accreditation supports training and career development

Ishida South Africa has become an accredited trainer of the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) programme.

SETA supports the skills development of South Africans, both young and old, who either need to learn new skills or improve their existing capabilities. The programme bridges the gap between the formal education and training system and the workplace by facilitating and funding learning programmes that build specific skillsets for particular industries.

Ishida has been accredited to provide training for marketing and new enterprise development. The programme comprises both classroom-based learning and practical on-the-job experience at Ishida’s offices, together with work placements at customers. Ishida will also be able to deliver training for customers’ own training programmes.

The first four trainees at Ishida are currently undertaking the marketing programme and following graduation in November, the company will seek to find employment for them within its own business, or with customers and partners.

“Work-related training is a crucial element in ensuring companies have the next generation of skilled workers who can continue to build their business and play a meaningful role in the South African economy as a whole,” commented Melika Seiderer, Ishida South Africa’s General Sales Manager.

“The SETA programme particularly appealed to us as it provides opportunities for individuals who, for various reasons, may not have completed their formal education. We look forward to further developing our programmes and giving more people the chance to take the first steps in a rewarding, long term career.”
