AIMPLAS, the most comprehensive lab for biodegradation and compostability testing

AIMPLAS has been authorized by DIN CERTCO and BPI to perform tests that
enable businesses to obtain ecolabels certifying the composability and
biodegradability of their products.
These authorizations, combined with the ones AIMPLAS obtained in 2017 and
2019 from ENAC and TÜV AUSTRIA, respond to company needs on certifying
the sustainability of their products.

AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, has been authorized by DIN CERTCO (TÜV Rheinland), an independent European certification company in the bioplastics market, to perform biodegradability and compostability tests in its testing laboratories, which will allow bioplastics businesses to obtain the ecolabels DIN Industrial Compostable, DIN Home Compostable and DIN Biodegradable Soil.
AIMPLAS has also been included in the accredited laboratories list of the American
organisation BPI helping companies obtain the BPI compostability certification.
These authorizations, along with those received from ENAC and TÜV AUSTRIA in 2017 and 2019, respectively, recognize the capabilities of the AIMPLAS laboratories to perform testing under the standard EN 13432.
The ecolabels issued enable companies to certify that a product is biodegradable or compostable in different environments (industrial and domestic composting or biodegradation on soil) without negatively affecting the environment and proving that their products are environmentally sustainable in the world’s main markets. The four organizations that have authorized AIMPLAS are the ones with the greatest global
recognition.
The benefits obtained by companies thanks to these certifications and ecolabels are linked to increased added value of the product and the company regarding the implementation of a circular economy model that is increasingly valued by consumers.
