Alpenhain and Berlin bakery Feihl donate €2,250 to the Emmi-Pikler-Haus e. v.

Over 1,600 pretzels sold with Original Obazda raise donations for social commitment

For the second time in a row, the traditional company Alpenhain has launched a charity campaign, which has now come to a successful end. While last year it was the family-run confectionery bakery Miedl from the region, this year the campaign was implemented with the Berlin partner Bäcker Feihl. Once again, one euro of the 1,667 pretzels sold with Alpenhain Original Obazda went to a charitable organization. The donation was made to the Emmi-Pikler-Haus e. V. from Berlin. Alpenhain and the baker Feihl have rounded up and the total donations amount to 2,250 euros. René Handwerk, Key Account Manager Foodservice at Alpenhain, and Hubert Feihl, owner of Der Bäcker Feihl, handed over the donation cheque to the employees of Emmi-Pikler-Haus e.V. on 30th of November 2023.

The aim of the charitable campaign by Alpenhain and the baker Feihl was to support a local institution in the Berlin area. As part of the charity campaign from September 25th to October 29th, a special pretzel plait was offered in 26 Feihl branches: The pastry was spread with original Obazda and one euro of the sales price was donated to Emmi-Pikler-Haus e. V. donated in Berlin. The organization is an inpatient child and youth welfare facility in which children from stressful family situations can be looked after from birth until their further life situation has been clarified. The donation of 2,250 euros is intended to help maintain and beautify the house and garden, which serve as a place to live for children from difficult family situations.

The employees of the protected facility Emmi-Pikler-Haus e. V., thanked Alpenhain, the baker Feihl, and everyone who participated in the donation campaign, and said, “Thank you very much for the trust, commitment, and solidarity shown in the form of the generous donation. This support helps achieve our mission of providing a safe place to live by enabling the purchase of additional building play materials for the children living with us. We are convinced that children who play creatively and create a meaningful world out of little are better able to actively tackle their life’s tasks later in their lives. This ability is particularly crucial for our protégés who have already experienced severe impairments”.

Robert Winkelmann, Managing Director at Alpenhain, said “We would like to thank everyone who actively participated in the charity campaign. As a fourth-generation family business, we are very close to our homeland and it is important to us to be involved regionally. But we are also driven by the conviction that we can live up to our responsibility on a supra-regional basis. So it was our concern to do good beyond the borders of Bavaria and we found the right partner in Bäcker Feihl from Berlin to set up a local institution like the Emmi-Pikler-Haus e. V. to support.”

Last year, the traditional cheese dairy launched a similar campaign with a partner from the Upper Bavarian region. At that time, donations were made to the RoMed Klinikum Rosenheim.
